LITTLE ENGINE FAITH
“I think I can! I think I can! I think I can!”
Although most of us haven’t read or listened to the story “The Little Engine That Could” in many years, the moral of the story about a confident little locomotive who was able to defy the odds by having faith in itself is a lesson that we need to apply in our lives as adults. The little engine was full of faith, and it was the little engine’s faith that gave it the driving motivation to do what seemed impossible! There was no room for doubt, and when it comes to what true faith is, God’s Word makes it very clear.
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1 New International Version)
At the very bottom of the hill, the little engine could already see itself at the top of the mountain. The little engine was not concerned with how heavy the load was, and it definitely wasn’t bothered by the fact that other larger trains were unwilling to attempt the task. The excuses that others had to offer and the possibility of being criticized by slackers and naysayers did not distract or deter the little engine. In spite of the colossal obstacle facing the little engine, it remained confident and focused on accomplishing the task at hand.
When it comes to your business, do you have genuine faith? Do you have a faith like the little engine? In spite of the outcome of the Presidential election, and in spite of those who won’t and those who might call you “crazy” for trying, are you fully convinced that you have what it takes to be successful?
Your potential has no limit. The little engine’s source of power was steam, and it some point in time, it would eventually fail. However, if you place your faith in God, you never have to worry about Him letting you down. Be encouraged! You CAN do all things through Him who gives you strength (Philippians 4:13 New International Version). Always recognize that it is God who blesses you with the ability to do anything. Give Him the glory in all that you do.
The conclusion of the matter is this: Your faith in God determines how successful you are. Jesus reminds us, “According to your faith let it be done to you” (Matthew 9:30 New International Version).
“See the light. Be the light.”
